Is Content Really King?

As professional marketers, it makes sense  we’d recommend digital advertising as a part of our client’s Marketing plan. Promotion is important, and online ads can produce results. But what good is your ad spend if the content is weak?

This is what we work on with our clients. We’re not suggesting you throw online ads out the window entirely, but content development should be a higher priority, especially if you’re a small business with a limited Marketing budget.

Speaking from our personal experience, our founder and head boss, Chelsie, grew TAC(t) from a freelance gig to a six-figure Marketing collective without paying for leads, ads, or search results. Take it from us, success can be found without paying Mark Zuckerberg thousands of dollars in Facebook ads (#ProTip: most of the engagement you get some that paid engagement is from bots. Seriously.) We’ve shared our thoughts on content development versus paid ads before, and you can read more here.

Creating high-quality content on a consistent basis can do wonders for your audience connection, SEO, and brand positioning. Please take note: we said high-quality. If you’re posting just for the sake of posting, chances are you’re actually harming your brand rather than helping it.

Content creation is one of the most cost-effective tactics in the world of Marketing. The phrase “content is king” couldn’t be more true, and if you’re not convinced yet, here’s 3 benefits of producing and publishing high-quality content.

Audience Connection

Your business can’t exist or succeed without, you guessed it, people. They’re your clients, your customers, your contractors, your employees/team members, etc. Reaching your audience is critical, and content is one way to do that. Once you’ve identified your target audience, you can start tailoring your content to reach them and begin building a relationship with them. Helpful, engaging content and online interactions will build your trust factor with your audience, which makes it much easier and more effective when converting your content consumers to real customers.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

It takes some strategic planning, but the content you post can actually boost your SEO and increase your visibility online. More visibility = increased brand awareness = reaching potential customers. When it comes to SEO, high-quality content is key.

Brand Positioning

Posting quality content about the industry, service, or niche your business lives in can position you as an expert. Your content will not only be beneficial for your audience, but it will also help them trust you more. Ask yourself, “if I was new to this, what would I want to know?” You can create FAQ posts, share industry news, and offer solutions your business provides for the challenges your audience faces.

What your business has to offer is important.

Your audience is important.

Connecting the two with high-quality content you share on a consistent basis is key for long-term success. If you’re ready to talk about content strategy, let’s get after it.
