Video (Marketing) Killed the Radio Star

If high-quality content is King, video is the Queen of content. Some might even say video content is the only type of media that matters in today’s multimedia Marketing landscape.

Video marketing can deliver major ROI (there’s a reason video-based apps like TikTok have been downloaded 6 billion times internationally). We’re not suggesting you start practicing lip syncing and create a TikTok account, but we are saying that video marketing has huge potential to benefit your connection with your target audience(s).

Types of Video Content

Video marketing isn’t one specific thing. There a lot of different ways to use this tactic::

  • Explainer video (a video that briefly explains your product/service/brand)

  • Vlogs (video blogs)

  • Interviews

  • Tutorials (how-to series to position yourself as a thought leader)

  • Video ads

While all of these approaches are likely suitable for your product/service/brand, their effectiveness depends on what you’re offering your clients/customers. If you’re not sure which content would suit you, drop us a note and we’ll help you strategize.

For example, one of our clients is a realtor with over 15 years of industry experience. Needless to say, he has a lot of wisdom, insight, and knowledge of the real estate industry and running a brokerage. We knew that the best way to share his knowledge would be in a video interview to share on social media. Through video, his potential clients would be able to learn from him directly, and he would simultaneously be positioning himself as an expert in his field. To date, the interviews are his best performing pieces of content on his social media channels.

Here’s an example of an interview-style video we shot for our client:

Video Content Stats

As a small business, we’re motivated by the numbers and the bottom line. Here are some statistics to prove how important video really is.

First things first: ROI. If your marketing budget is already tight, it can be really difficult to even entertain the idea of something ‘new’ like integrating video into your Marketing strategy. We’re here to help you think differently. Each year Wyzowl puts together a video marketing study, surveying both marketing professionals and online consumers. Here’s what they found in terms of ROI:

  • 86% of video marketers say video has increased traffic to their website

  • 78% of video marketers say video has directly helped increase sales

  • 94% of video marketers say video has helped increase user understanding of their product or service

But what do consumers actually think about it? Here’s what Wyzowl found from their survey:

  • 84% of people say that they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video

  • When asked how they’d most like to learn about a product or service, 69% said they’d prefer to watch a short video

  • People are twice as likely to share video content with their friends than any other type of content, including social media posts, blog posts/articles and product pages

It’s a proven fact that people love videos, and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. Wyzowl also found in 2021, consumers watch an average of 2.5 hours of online video content per day (a significant rise since the 1.5 hour per day average in 2018).

If you aren’t convinced yet and you’re thinking “we don’t really have anything exciting to film”, you may be surprised. If the Sacramento History Museum can go viral for a video about a printing press (and keep in mind, the TikTok audience is largely Gen Z’ers), you can create exciting content for your business too.

Video can be tricky to navigate— Do we hire someone? Can we do it in-house? How do we maximize our investment in this medium? How often do we need to record new videos? Is it really expensive? What if my budget is only a certain amount for the whole year?

And the list goes on and on…

Let us help. One of the reasons we exist is because we believe in working smarter, NOT harder. Advertising doesn’t need to be complicated. Developing a Marketing strategy doesn’t need to take months to develop.

~17% of non-video marketers don’t use video for marketing as they don’t know where to start. If you’re a part of that 17%, we’re here to help you create a plan, strategize, and execute.

Video marketing is not only beneficial, it can also be fun and affordable.
