Our Favorite Small Business Hacks
In case you missed our previous post about our favorite small business hacks and tools, you can check that out here. Since that post, our business has grown significantly, and we’ve started using new tools to continue to move TAC(t) forward, and further enhance our work for our clients! And bonus— most of these tools are completely free!
These Marketing and project management tools help us save time, collaborate as our remote team, and keep us on track, internally, so we can focus on our client’s goals.
Slack
Slack is basically instant messaging for small businesses, and we use it every single day. You have the option to create different channels for different projects, clients, teams, or topics— we use this feature to keep track of updates for different client accounts, without things getting all jumbled together.
You have the option to send direct messages to team members, which makes it easy to get quick responses (and keeps your phone from blowing up with work-related texts). If you have a remote team, we highly recommend Slack for easy communication!
Planable
Allow us to introduce you to our holy grail tool: Planable! Whether you run your own social media accounts for your business or you offer social media management as a service, Planable makes the entire process easy and visually intuitive. Planable allows us to quickly create and schedule content across all social platforms simultaneously. It was built for team use, which means it’s easy to collaborate on content. We love this tool because it’s user-friendly, and we can see all of our clients on our dashboard at once. Say goodbye to logging into every single client’s Facebook Business Suite individually!
Asana
Obsessive list people, this one's for you! Asana is the ultimate task management platform. You can create tasks, set deadlines, and keep track of project progress in one place. It keeps our team in sync on the many moving parts of our business and ensures that our deliverables are completed on time. There’s a robust list of options with Asana, which gives you the option to find what works best for your team and business. If you’re a solopreneur, Asana can still be an excellent tool to keep yourself on-track with your work.
Notion
Notion is a beast of a platform, with endless options and possibilities for use. This tool can be used individually or with a team. Notion is a little difficult to explain because it’s pretty much everything you need to run a business: a collaborative workspace to store documents, notes, spreadsheets, calendars, track tasks, and create company resources. When I say it’s everything, it really is everything. Think of it as a centralized workplace for anything related to your business.
Although the design may be simple, the tools within Notion are not. Let me offer you this warning: Notion will take you some time to learn, but once you have it down, you’ll never look back. You can use Notion for free with a personal account or spend a whopping $8 per user per month on a team plan. If Notion is good enough for teams like Pixar, it’s good enough for us!
Slack, Planable, Asana, and Notion are affordable tools we use to create success for our own business and for our clients. If you’re ready to start focusing on your Marketing efforts, we hope these tools help your business as much as they help ours!
