How To Market Your Job Openings
If you’re in the process of hiring new employees and growing your team, congrats! I know it can seem like a stressful transition period, but I think it’s pretty impressive you’ve grown your business to this point.
In case you missed it last week, I shared some tips on how to practically prepare to hire someone new (which you’ll find especially helpful if this is your first time hiring someone). This week, I’m going to take things a step further and explain how to actually get eyes on your job postings.
Make Your Website Work For You
Capitalize on the traffic already on your website and be sure to list your job openings on a Career page. If you need to fill the position ASAP, make sure the page is easy to find and regularly send your site visitors in that direction. This page is also where you can introduce your brand, explain what you’re looking for in-depth, and direct site visitors to contact you.
Use Social Media
Tap into your social media audience and share your open job opportunities on a regular basis. Here’s a quick list of Do’s and Don’t for sharing your job listing on social media:
DO utilize LinkedIn (there is so much opportunity here— you don’t want to overlook this platform)
DO include a clear call-to-action with next steps for interested parties
DO use an exciting, encouraging tone of voice
DON’T post your entire job description in the caption
DON’T spam your audience
DON’T miss out on engaging with comments and messages from followers
Don’t be afraid to share your job postings on social media! This is a great way to connect with candidates who are already familiar with you, your brand, and the services you offer. With easy content sharing on social platforms, it’s easy for your existing audience to pass along your job posting to someone else in their circle as well.
Use Your Personal and Professional Connections
Yes, word-of-mouth Marketing still exists (and works) in 2022. No, it’s not unprofessional or uncommon to ask your connections for referrals. I’m not saying to cold call your old intern supervisor from ten years ago (I mean, unless you really want to)— I’m suggesting you reach out to clients you have a great relationship with, contractors you currently work with, or friends who work in your field. Hopefully, they’ll know you well enough to know what type of person would be a good fit for your team.
Use Online Job Boards
You probably already know this one, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Post your open position on online job boards such as Indeed, LinkedIn, or ZipRecruiter. If you have the budget for it, it may be worthwhile to throw some advertising dollars at these platforms— especially if you have very specific needs or a high-level position open.
Successfully growing your team with the right people can often seem like an uphill battle, but hang in there! It takes time to find the right person with the right skills for your team and business. Understanding how and where to Market your job posting will help you find the best candidate(s) possible! If you need extra assistance with Marketing strategy (job opening-related or not), you know I’m here to help.
