Think Your Business is “Too Boring” for Social Media? (Part II)

We’re back with more social media content ideas for your small business! If you missed the first part of this blog series, you can read that post here.

We know coming up with fresh, exciting content for your social media channels can be time consuming, oftentimes frustrating, and a burden to your already busy workload. To help you overcome a creative block, we’ve put together another round of ideas to get you started.

User Generated Content (UGC)

UGC is an easy and effective way to source quality content without creating it yourself. UGC is exactly what it sounds like: your customers, consumers, or clients post photos or reviews of your business, and then you share it on your business accounts (don’t forget to tag them to give them credit!).

For example, if we were a coffee shop, we would look at our tagged photos and find high-quality photos of our coffee, shop interior, or food items. We’d then share those photos on our own account and give the original user credit for their photography.

#ProTip: We’d recommend asking users permission to share their content on your social channels before posting it. Although it’s publicly available, it’s still courteous to ask for permission (plus, it’s a great way to connect with your audience!).

Use Your Blog/Website

If we had to give you a “step one” for content, we would tell you to start here. If you don’t have a website, you should (more on that here), and if you don’t have a blog, you should (more on that here). This idea is simple: take existing content from your blog and/or website and splinter it out into content pieces.

For example, if you have an FAQ page on your website, create separate posts for each question and answer, and link back to your website as your call to action. If you offer different services or products, create a post for each service/product. If you recently wrote a blog post with three points (like this one!), use each bullet point as a social media post. Creating content pieces by parceling out what you’ve already written is a great way to increase your web traffic and utilize your existing content for your social media.

Show Off Your Team

People trust people over brands. It can take years to build trust in a business, whereas it can take mere minutes of human connection to create a bond. And hello, we aren’t all robots behind our brands and businesses. We’re real people, so let’s use that!

Showcase your team by doing a “Meet the Team” series of posts. Introduce them, share their background, their role, and a fun fact about them. If you’re a solopreneur, share the behind-the-scenes of all the different things that you do for your business (or what you do when you’re not working!). People connect with stories and other people; showcasing your team is a great way to connect with your audience.
